Assistant Executive Website Designer - Lake Charles, LA

Charlene Mitchell Kennerson

I was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on March 21, 1982, to the late Charles and Martha Mitchell. From the very beginning, I was different — my family often said I was born an old soul. Maybe it was the way I observed the world with quiet curiosity or how I seemed to carry a sense of purpose even as a child.

For the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of serving my community through my work with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. As a Special Education Routing Specialist, I manage the transportation needs for special needs children — a role that requires precision, compassion, and a deep understanding of the importance of safety and dignity. Every route I coordinate isn’t just about getting a child from home to school — it’s about ensuring that child is seen, supported, and set up for success. Along the way, love found me in the most powerful way. In addition to my routing work, I serve as the Website Coordinator for the transportation department and handle Special Needs Medicaid Services. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s also a calling. I see the value in every detail, because behind every detail is a child, a parent, a family depending on what we do. On November 26, 2011, I married my best friend, Keven Wayne Kennerson Sr. Together, we built a life grounded in faith, laughter, and unshakable love. I’m also the proud mother of three incredibly authentic sons: James, Zharian, and Kylon. Each of them is a mirror of strength, individuality, and soul. They are my legacy in motion—unapologetically themselves, just like their mama. And now, I wear a new title that fills my heart even more deeply: grandmother. My grandson, Mylan, is a reminder that life keeps growing, keeps giving, and keeps unfolding in the most beautiful ways. He is a part of my legacy, and I treasure the joy he brings to our lives.

What makes me a Pradia isn't just my bloodline — it's my backbone. I'm the proud granddaughter of Katherine Pradia January, a woman whose strength, wisdom, and grace helped shape the very foundation of who I am. I had the honor of being one of her caretakers during her later years, and in those moments, I learned that caring for someone is one of the deepest forms of love and respect.

She was married to my grandfather, Randolph January, a man I hold in the highest regard-he was steady, strong, and always present. Together, they left a legacy of family, pride, and perseverance that runs through my veins.

Being a Pradia means showing up with heart.

It means standing firm in your values, lifting others as you climb, and never forgetting where you come from. I carry that name with pride and purpose-because it represents the strength of those who came before me, and the responsibility I now carry to live it forward.

I’ve always led with authenticity. Whether I was the class clown at Washington-Marion, the voice of reason in my family, or the behind-the-scenes force making things happen, I made sure people knew what I stood for. And that hasn’t changed. Life isn’t over—not by a long shot. I’m still growing, still becoming, still dreaming. But if had to sum it all up right now, I’d say this: Be yourself loudly. Love your people hard. And never be afraid to take your time—as long as you keep moving.
This is my story. This is my truth. And it’s still being written.
